PCA Side Event Action
With a scheduled 40+ events the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is the largest festival of poker outside of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). The six-day main event attracted 1,072 entrants creating a prize pool of over $10 million dollars with the first prize awarding $2 million. The main event is currently down to the last 24-remaining players so what are the over 1,048 players up to besides getting themselves a great suntan? They are diving into the side action of course!
The former world champion Jonathan Duhamel needed a pick me up after recently being assaulted and robbed at his home in Canada. Well what about winning $239,830? That is exactly the amount that Duhamel won after winning the $5,000 NLHE side-event. His victory comes just a few days after placing fourth in the High Roller for $313,600. The current world champion Pius Heinz finished fifth in the $5k event that Duhamel won.
In other side event action Jamil Wakil scored his biggest ever live tournament win after winning $10,000 in the $1,000 Survivor tourney. The tournament, which boasted a 128 strong field, split it’s prize pool up to distribute as many $10,000 prizes as it could. There were 12 prizes in all and EPT and WPT champion Roberto Romanello was one of those players.
Hungarian Istvan Toth won the $300 NLHE Turbo event, John Esposito took down the $1,000 H.O.E event and Michael Malm won the $1,000 “win the button” tournament.
